Opportunities From: East Cooper Community Outreach

Volunteer: Clothing Closet Drop-In

Kat’s Clothing Closet provides clothes, shoes, and household linens for ECCO clients and their families at no cost. To keep the shelves of Kat's Closet filled, we rely on new or gently used donations from the community.

During this Drop-In shift, volunteers help sort community donations. Once donations are sorted, items are placed on hangers and displayed in our Clothing Closet. Items not accepted are sent to our textile recycling partner with proceeds supporting client services.

As a community-based organization, we heavily depend on volunteers to fulfill our mission. By registering for this opportunity, we are counting on your presence. Please unregister if you are no longer able to attend and contact us directly with any unexpected absences so we can offer the opportunity to another community member.

Information for new volunteers: Please dress comfortably (including footwear) as you will be primarily standing and moving around to help sort donations. Please park in the Harris Teeter lot along the tree line facing Goodwill and walk over to ECCO. Please walk through our parking lot, past the main entrance, and enter through the "Donations Entrance". Please let a volunteer or staff member know you are there for the drop-in shift. Volunteers can be identified by name tags and staff by name badges. Either our Kat's Clothing Closet Manager, Cathi Rider, or a Lead Volunteer will help explain unloading/sorting.
